Tradeskill Mission Revamp/Additions

As we know, there are two main tradeskilling professions in Neocron, Construction and Research, and several subskills, Hacking, Recycling, Salvaging and Repair. There is a decent mix of things to do with these skills, both p2p and pve. Like other City-Com missions, tradeskill missions can be tedious and boring. Right now, Tradeskill missions are basically “tradeskill this item and turn it in over there.” That’s it. Following is intended to open up the professions and give them more things to do.

Tradeskill players will occasionally (rarely) proc, via city-com, or receive via NC-mail, special faction missions with branch off opportunities:

  1. Researching:
-Player is tasked with researching tiered prototype items <common (store bought items), confidential (mid-game), secret (late game), top-secret (pre-rare/rare overlap) (each relating to level required)> - weapons, implants, armor, (and parts for each), drugs, etc. *faction dependent ie some factions will specialize in certain items over others, parts also can drop in random mob loot
-Item to be researched is unusable and destroyed upon being researched and is only researchable with a provided “proprietary” research tool/machine in HQ <insert lore/reason here>
-Player can choose to complete the mission for a reward or
-Player can sell the datacube to or
-Player can attempt to build the prototype themselves and have a usable item
–Prototype will require a Salvager to break-down the item and a datacube will be created - higher tiers require higher salvaging and failure will result in a destroyed item. Datacube also has a baked in failure rate depending on rarity
–Item will require regular item parts plus faction specific parts (obtainable via missions, shady dealers, mobs)
–Items, except common, will roll semi-randomized, but slightly better stats than equal level regular weapons and/or higher slot chance

  2. Construction:
–Player is tasked with constructing tiered prototype items <common (store bought items), confidential (mid-game), secret (late game), top-secret (pre-rare/rare overlap) (each relating to level required)> - weapons, implants, armor, (and parts for each),
-Player given a datacube, parts* and access to a proprietary CST tool/machine in HQ to craft item
-Player can choose to complete the mission for a reward or
-Player can sell the datacube to or
-Player can attempt to build the prototype themselves and have a usable item
–Datacube will require a Hacker to crack the datacube into a usable datacube - higher tiers require higher hacking, failure will result in a destroyed item.

  3. Recycling:
    -Same premise but with drugs/chemicals

All “prototype” items could be as simple as Named versions of items already available but with slightly better stats. The stats will, of course, need to be balanced based on the rarity of these missions.

With these ideas, RES and CST will gain additional gameplay options and REC, SLV, and HCK could gain additional sources of income, (PvE espionage and P2P lending out their skills). Barring people making personal tradeskill servants, this could add tradeskill competition and healthy conflict.
